daily event...10-30-08(TV`s effect the climate on the earth)
Earlier this year, researchers warned that growing popularity of flat screen TV`s was releasing increasing amounts of a powerful greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. it is said that the TV`s level of gas is four times as high as previously estimated and they are raising quickly. nitrogen trifloride is the main cause of this problem. the colourless, odurless, non-flammable gas is used in the electronics industry for equipment cleaning, for etching microcircuits and for manufacturing liquid crystal flat panel displays and then film cells. however, industries are under no obligation to provise accurate accounts of how much NF3 they are emitting.

moore's Law is the observation made by gordon moore, the co-founder of intel, in 1965. the observation was about the number of transistors per square inch on integrated circuits had doubled every year since the intrgrated circuit was invented. moore predicted that this trend would continue for the foreseeable future. data density has doubled approximately every 1 and 1/2 to 2 years. intel has kept that pace for nearly 40 years. intel's commitment to this law has delievered a massive increase in the number of transistors integrated into intel processors.this helps the companies in memory, energy efficiency, performance and support for the hardware. everything is linked to moore's law includeing the size of pixels in digital cameras. it has increases the expedient use od digital electronics in nearly every segment of the world.

I do believe that in 2020 TVs are going to be no more and that we are going to have helmets or something like that, that make the "movie" seem like it is actually happening to us and happening aroung us. everything about the movie is going to be totally realistic and maybe even made into a way that you can interact with the movie like you were one of the characters.
in the article it talks about how researchers have created a display that van be erased and rewritten in a matter of minutes. to create television sets the images would need to be changing multiple times each second but they are very optimistic this can happen.they say that soon enough there will be 3-dimensional movies all in action unfolded on your coffee table. the descriptions of the set will be a screen on the wall that shows 3-D images, with all the image writing lasers behind the wall, or it could be like a horizontal panel on a table with holographic writing underneath.this could hit the markets in the next 5-10 years. also there could be virtual reality television by 2020.

on oct.9 micron tech annouced that it is shutting down it NAND flash memory business that it co-owned with intel. micron is cutting 15% of its worldwide work force(22,600 person). the reason for all this is the struggle with the falling preces of DRAM and NAND memory. the fall in memory has continued to drop due to overstock in the market. it is said that the price of memory will continue to fall while the financial crisis continues and consumer spending slows down.millions of people could loose their jobs and everything they own due to the decrease in the flash memory price. some workers will be forced to move their job postion to the IM flash Technologies facility, a joint venture company between micron and intel.

09-30-08 begin of class assignment(robotics)
I dont know much about robotics, i just know that most of the things that control this world deals with robotics. that most robotics deal with computerized controls and things like that. i have a friend that is interested in biomedical enginneering. im not sure if they are anything in comman but her interest deals with electronics like robotics. if a robotic course was available in the earier time of my high school years i would have extremely been interested in taking the course just to find out what it is about and to have knowledge in some other feild of study. i still dont know what i want to do yet so i think this course might have helped my decicion. if we had programming classes i would take them to because i think that the two courses would help with each other some what and i would want to know alot of things which will alway expand considering the electronic society keep on growing through the years. if we were to have these classes i would like the 7 period day bacuase then i could take both classes at the same time and they will work together so it might be alittle easier then taking one one semester and the other the 2nd semester.

VS.
The article is pretty much talking about how Microsoft and apple are in competition with each other and they are creating commercials to help the US citizens figure out if they want there computer or not. the apple MAC was first with a commercial about as young man( the MAC) talking about how much better he was then the older man( the PC)...bill gates saw this commercial and citizens started buying more MAC`s then DELL`s so he decided to make a commercial about him and Jerry Seinfeld talking about computers to catch the eye of the typical middle age family. in response to Jerry`s questions at the end of the campaign commercial bill gates did the robot to answer yes. i thought that the commersial was kind of stupid compared to the MAC computer commercial. these commercials were to help the companies but i think that apple did a much better job.their commercials are much funnier and more planned out becuase the microsoft commercial doesnt even talk about any of the programs or system that microsoft has and everything.

Mainframe vs.PC

mainframe computers are mainly used by large organizations for critical applications, typically bulk data processing such as census, industry and consumer statistics, ERP, and finanical transaction processing. the original mainframes were housed in enormous, room-sixed metal boxes or frames. with a personal computer or PC you dont have to have alot of free space for it. this computer is designed for the use by just one person. unlike the mainframe computers that need a whole team to control them. mainframe computers take alot of energy to power them. to think that if scientists never evolved computers that computers would still be filling up our living room floors and we would be haveing a team of techinctions to come look at them every other day...holy crap! i like it the way it is now!...anyways today the size of computers have shrunk and the power it can create has has increase. the mainframe computer has always been known as the mainframe computer but the PC was once known as rhe microcomputer because of the complete computer being buily on a smaller scale than the huge systems in use by most businesses.

Compare and contrast of RAM,ROM,Virtual andCaching Memory

http://www.crews.org/curriculum/ex/compsci/articles/howcomput.htm
RAM: is considered “random access” because you can access any memory cell directly if you know the row and column that intersect at that cell. This memory comes from the main mother board of your computer. Unlike ROM it works only when the computer is turned on. This memory controls the moment by moment processes of the computer. RAM is the home of the operating system which in these days is most of the time Windows 95. The ram needs a lot of space to run all the programs it is supposed most users need.

RAM is the home of the operating system which in these days is most of the time Windows 95. The ram needs a lot of space to run all the programs it is supposed most users need.
ROM: this is known as read only memory, this memory is permanent, memory. This memory stays on the computer even when it is turned off. It cannot be erased or change in anyway. However PROM a type of ROM can be altered.ROM is responsible for storing the basic input/output systems (BIOS) that control the start-up and boot process. ROM can be found in any electronically operated device. EPROM –Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory, EEROM-Electrically Erased Read-Only memory.
VIRTUAL:is a common part of the most operating systems on desktop computers. It has become so common because it provides a big benefit for users at a very low cost. With virtual memory, what the computer can do is look at RAM for areas that have not been used recently and copy them onto the hard disk. Virtual memory allows us to run programs because ROM and RAM doesn’t have enough space, virtual memory allows us to multi-task on the computer and internet etc. with the help of the virtual memory there is more room for the RAM to load a new application. This allows you computer to feel like it has more memory space then is actually installed. However if you computer has to heavily really on the virtual memory you will notice a significant performance drop. If the virtual memory is not working right the computer has to swap information back and forth between RAM and the hard disk, this is called thrashing this makes your computer incredibly slow. Both cache and virtual are types of memory supplement and perform the same function as RAM.this memory is a form of caching.
CACHING: helps you larger areas of your computer to be accessed quickly, caching is an important computer-science process that appears on every computer in a variety of forms. There are memory caches, hardware and software disk caches, page caches and more.modern computers have both L1 and L2 caches and now come have L3 cache.

computer history
1939-David Packard and Bill Hewlett found Hewlett-Packard in a Palo Alto, California garage. Their first product was the HP 200A Audio Oscillator, which was used by many engineers.
....Walt Disney Pictures also ordered eight of the 200B model to use as sound effects generators for the 1940 movie “Fantasia.”
1941-Konrad Zuse finishes the Z3 computer which was an early computer which used floating point binary arithmetic and had a 22-bit word length.
1943- The original Z3 was destroyed in a bombing raid of Berlin.
1945-On September 9th, Grace Hopper recorded the first actual computer "bug" — a moth stuck between the relays and logged at 15:45 hours on the Harvard Mark II. She helped program the Harvard Mark I and II and developed the first compiler, A-0.
1948-Claude Shannon showed engineers how to code data so they could check for accuracy after transmission between computers.
1950- Engineering Research Associates of Minneapolis built the ERA 1101, the first commercially produced computer that held 1 million bits on its magnetic drum, the earliest magnetic storage devices it stored as many as 4,000 words and retrieved any one of them in as little as five-thousandths of a second.
this computer was first used by the U.S. Navy
1952- grace hopper completes the A-0 Compiler, a program that allows a computer user to use english-like words instead of numbers.
1958- the first integrated circuit is created to prove that resistors and capacitors could exist on the same piece of semiconductor material.
1962- the first widely accepted epitaxial gold-doped NPN transistor was created by fairchild camera and instrument corp.
1963- the first artificial robotic arm is created, the rancho arm, as a tool for the handicapped. its fjoints flexibilty deminstrate the motion of a human arm.

assignment # 3
The are several processes that need to be finsished before power is removed: data needs to put away, settings need to be calculated and stored, connections with devices and the network need to be terminated, and so forth.

class assignment #2

answer to the questions on the class blog:
1.Nanotube technology is an emerging field of research that looks to shrink already small components to a small size its a series of tiny tubes of rolled-up carbon hexagons.it was dicovered in 1991.
2.Nanotube technology is it looks like tubes 10,000 times smaller then a human hair
3.This evolvement could increase the power of a transistors , It could also increase a computers memory.

The playstation 3
ok ok .... i know that most people know all about this game system and stuff but give me a second to talk about it.
The playstation 3 is the 3rd in the PS family, just like Playstation 2 it competes with nintendo and microsoft. playstation 3 also carries on with the complimenty online gaming exspirance as playstation 2. The playstation 3 comes with two diffrent chooses of hard drives, a 60 GB or a 20 GB.
like a computer the playstation has the options of downloading settings, photos, music, videos, games, networks, and friends. you can even access the internet from your playstation. with a similar version of the disk drive in a computer, the playstation 3 can copy songs off of a CD onto a connected device (like an I-POD) .you can even hook up a USB keyboard and mouse to the playstation 3 as you go onto the internet connection.
